Post-secondary Equine Education Programs
Subject Synopsis: There are many colleges and universities in North America and elsewhere with programs of equine education. Yet, many such programs, while they may serve to satisfy students during their matriculation, lack the capacity to satisfy the requirements of their graduates. These programs, hence their graduates, sometimes do not meet the specialized workforce needs of the horse industry for sophisticated and versatile professionals. There is a need in much of postsecondary equine education for improved linkages with the industry.

Equine Regulatory and Jurisdictional Issues
Subject Synopsis: By definition, pari-mutuel racing is a regulated industry; that is, racetracks are subject to licensing and regulation by state or provincial governments to a significant extent. There are in every jurisdiction government agencies or commissions that regulate their pricing, locations, operations, dates, security, and even their profits. Needless to say, this reality has significant implications for management because most innovative or entrepreneurial actions, whether oriented to structure or marketing, tend to be extra challenging as a result.
